Taxi was formed in the summer of 1996 by the producers Paul Cullen and Simon Lovejoy and vocalisit Joel Laundy in Norwich/ England.
What sounds so simple has a previous history full of hazards.
Vocalist Jo Laundy, who meanwhile left the band, was first spotted by producer Paul Cullen in a pub in Norwich. telephone numbers were written on cigarette packets and promptly lost. Three months later, they met eventually again on a number 27 bus. This time Paul persuaded Jo to do some singing - and the first two pieces of the puzzle were in place. Another year later, when Simon Lovejoy was visiting Norwich, a mutual friend suggested a meeting of the minds between Paul and Simon and the final piece of the puzzle was in place: Three unique personalities. Three different sounds. One Taxi.
The band?s first album -Chocolate was an independent release picked up by Frankfurt label INFRAcom!
A year after signing with INFRACom! Taxi released ?Blue Zero One? featuring the talented vocalist Joel Laundy which received critical acclaim worldwide. The album was licensed to Inpartmaint in Japan.
Taxi?s music has appeared on dozens of compilations in more than eleven countries around the globe and featured on several television commercials. An artistic partnership with Absolut Vodka underlines the band?s position as: "one to watch?.
2004, two years after the release of their debut album "Blue Zero One" the UK based duo "Taxi" returned with a new album: The Accessory.
Taxi supported their new album with live performances across Europe and around the world. Traditionally, electronic music has been difficult to recreate live but this has all changed with the development of ?live? software.
